Having an awareness of potential hazards is vital as young people progress into work or work placements. These introductory lessons look at 2 key principles relating to signs and fire safety. These resources are useful for work-realted learning and work experience and are also suitable for diploma preparation.
Lesson 1 – Signs & Symbols
Students participate in 3 activities which look at the different types of safety signs, ie prohibitive, warning, mandatory and fire. Students must think about the signs they expect to see in a particular environment and finally they have to identify particular signs and their meanings in the form of a quiz.
Lesson 2 – Fire Safety
The main causes of fire are discussed in first part of this lesson and this is followed by a series of student activities which study fire safety and different type of fire extinguisher that they may see.
