Stock Exchange - Financial Capability Activities for Tutor Time

In this series of 4 fun form time activities, students will learn some of the basics of the stock market and buying and selling shares.

Activity 1 – What Makes Shares go Up or Down

In a whole class quiz, pupils must decide if shares will go up or down depending on different market conditions and business situations. There is an opportunity to discuss why this happens.

Activity 2 – Logos and Branding

In the second activity, students study famous brands and consider the question, how do logos add value to a business?

Activity 3 – Create a Company

Now that your students have knowledge of some of the basics, they must develop an idea for their own company that they will be able to promote on the stock exchange. They must remember that the company need to be inviting to potential share purchasers.

Activity 4 – Stock Exchange Game

In the final activity, each group of students must buy and sell shares in each others’ companies. During the game, a series of announcements will be made that may affect the trading.
