Activity:
Display the PowerPoint presentation. What do they think these sayings mean? The roots of the saying “pay through the nose” are obscure. Some sources say it goes back to medieval times, where thieves would have their noses slit as a punishment. The sayings relating to salt are said to go back to Roman times, where as part of their “salary” soldiers received salt as payment for their services. Ask them to come up with three other money-related sayings or proverbs in two minutes. Feedback with their ideas.
