From the key stage 3 PSHE: Personal Well-being programme of study:
1.5 Diversity a. appreciating that, in our communities, there are similarities as well as differences between people of different race, religion, culture, ability or disability, gender, age or sexual orientation.
Learning Outcomes
Students gain an understanding of what makes people different to each other, and what makes them similar to each other.
Introduction
Ask the students to work in pairs.
Each of them has to write a list of what makes them different to each other. Obvious things could include gender, hair, eye or skin colour and height.
Encourage them to think about differences that aren’t simply physical. What about differences in personality?
