More About These Activities for Form Time

We are constantly hearing on the news about the current state of the economy both in the UK and further afield. Your students will have heard about the economic climate and may well have been affected by it in some way on a personal level. These activities break down some of the elements of the financial market to help make sense of the current situation.

Activity 1 – What is a Credit Crunch?

In this introductory lesson, students express their current understanding of the financial situation and begin to think about how this could be or is affecting them as individuals. Key financial terms are introduced and students participate in a short quiz.

Activity 2 – Thinking Hats

Working in pairs, students review case studies relating to the current financial situation contained in the PowerPoint presentation.

Activity 3 – Credit Crunch and the Media

Again, working in pairs, students produce a newspaper report about the possible or real consequences.

Activity 4 – Keyword Quiz

In this lesson, students will explore keywords further to assess the level of understanding at this point in the module.

Activity 5 – Keyword Bingo

This session will help students familiarise themselves with words relating to the economy and also further understand the implications for individuals, communities and nations.

Activity 6 – Problem Solving

In the final activity, students use their knowledge to identify ways for a struggling business to overcome the affects of the economic climate.
