Stock exchange lesson plan for enterprise.

Enterprise teaching resources for key stage 4 that teach students about buying and selling shares on the stock exchange.

Students work in groups to form a company, think of a product, think of a company name and develop a logo. They then have the opportunity to launch onto the Stock Exchange and buy and sell shares in their companies.

These lessons can be used as 6 individual 45 minute lessons or combined as an off-timetable event.

Stock Exchange Lesson Plans for KS4

Students may have heard about the stock market on the news, but how many know how it works? In this series of 6 enterprise lessons, students develop a business concept and then learn about buying and selling their own shares.

Lesson 1 – Choosing Roles & Designing Logos

In the first lesson in this module, students work in groups to represent a company. They must choose their role in the business and then as a team decide on a company logo and what the company does.

Lesson 2 – Creating Publicity Material

Students must now consider how they are going to publicise their company using tag lines, adverts, posters etc.

Lesson 3 – The TV Show

This lesson takes the form of a chat show where each group must represent their company and answer questions from the audience.

Lesson 4 – Launching on the Stock Exchange

Students now present their companies to the rest of the class who represent the stock exchange. Each company is assessed by the rest of the class to give it a share price.

Lesson 5 – Buying and Selling Shares

All students now participate to experience how share prices change. Using a quiz style exercise, students can assess how different situations can affect share prices.

**Lesson 6 – Final Session.

Students now have the opportunity to evaluate their own performance and level of knowledge on this subject. This is broken down into group assessment, peer assessment and self assessment.
