By the end of this session, students will appreciate the need to have a clear and accurate business plan.

Using a feasibility report and working in groups, students role play advisors for a potential investment opportunity.
USPs
Unique selling points are what make businesses special. Researching online students list USPs and what they mean to the customer.
Making a case
A "dragons den" type activity is the conclusion to this module. Students work on their presentation skills whilst learning what investors are looking for in a business.
Implementing New Business Ideas
This is a series of 6 lessons that breaks down the elements required when implementing a new business idea. Using an example of starting a new company, students will gain a broader understanding of how the process works.
Lesson 1 – Business Knowledge
In the first lesson in this module, students consider the reasons for setting up a new business and research the sources of information and business advice.
Lesson 2 – Being the Boss
In individual and paired activities, students look at the qualities required to be a business manager. They must then identify who would be best suited to different roles.
Lesson 3 – Business Planning
This lesson introduced the concept of a business plan. Students work in groups to come up with a business idea and then develop a business plan for it.
Lesson 4 – Background Research
In this lesson, students learn about researching for product development. Using examples, students must identify areas for further research, and the carry out a role play activity from different perspectives.
Lesson 5 – USPs
Lesson 5 concentrates on unique selling points. By the end of the lesson, students will understand why these are important and what make a good unique selling point.
Lesson 6 – Making a Case
To complete this module on business implementation, students gather the work from previous activities to prepare a presentation to an audience of business investors.
