Change – Teaching Resources for Enterprise

As students move into the world of work, they will face changes on a regular basis. These lessons will teach them the necessary skills to make and deal with changes that affect them.

Lesson 1 – How Do People Change

In this introductory exercise, students work in groups to look at different careers to see how and why they may be subject to change.

Lesson 2 – Planning and Preparing

This group activity involves identifying different attitudes and different roles in a team. They must then evaluate a ‘change’ scenario and prepare points for discussion about it.

Lesson 3 – How Good Are You at Dealing With Change?

Using role-play, pupils are given a business example where a change may be necessary. They must consider the situation from the perspective of each participant.

Lesson 4 – Responding Positively to Change

In this activity, students must record the positive and negative reactions to and consequences of changes in relation to the given statements. They must then prepare their conclusions for display.

Lesson 5 – Making Changes

Students are now given an example case study. They need to come up with a number of solutions to the key problem faced by the business, remembering to think about the consequences that these may have.

Lesson 6 – Keeping up with Change

The final session begins with a whole class activity. By the end of this session, students will have found out about where to get the best information to keep them ahead of the field.
