More about the Diversity Lesson Plans

We live in a multi-cultural society, and one that has been multi-cultural for many years. In this series of teaching resources, we discuss how this affects us as a society. This goes hand-in-hand with learning about prejudice and tolerance.

Lesson 1 – What is Diversity?

To begin, we establish students’ knowledge of the meaning of diversity with a class discussion. This is followed by student activities exploring the pros and cons of a diverse society.

Lesson 2 – The History of Diversity in the UK

Throughout history, people have emigrated from and immigrated to the UK. This lesson takes a closer look at the different nationalities, religions and ethnic groups in our community.

Lesson 3 – How Different Are We?

What makes us different? With this lesson, students begin to appreciate that while we live in a diverse society, there are also similarities between people of different race, religion, culture, gender etc.

Lesson 4 – How Has Diversity Shaped Britain

In the final lesson of the diversity module, the class will be learning about how diversity had influenced British culture. What would society be like without diversity.
