A number of straightforward tasks are set which are designed to expand the student's career research.
Current Planning
Students use a subject review process with teaching staff in order to assess their progression and plan ahead.
More About Career Action Planning
When your pupils have considered the types of job they would like to progress into, they must research the chosen career to ensure that they have the necessary skills, qualifications or experience.
Lesson 1 – Researching Jobs & Routes of Entry to Careers
An individual activity which is broken down into 3 tasks. This work can be carried out in lesson time of in your school learning resource centre if appropriate.
Lesson 2 – Where am I?
Pupils must now complete a questionnaire about their own experiences and thoughts. Further research work is carried out and areas for further support are identified.
Lesson 3 – Widening the Net
Pupils complete the worksheet which is particularly useful for those with dilemmas such as those who are not sure what they want to do when they leave school, or those who want a professional career but don’t know which A/AS levels they need to study for example.
Lesson 4 – E-portfolios and Interviews
In the last activity, students make a general review of their current progress, match this to their chosen career paths and identify areas that require development.
