In a series of 6 lesson plans, students begin to understand the implications of credit and lending particularly in the current eceonomic climate.

The Credit Crunch Teaching Resources
As students become economically active, it is important that they have a wider understanding of the economy, in particular with a focus on the difficult times for personal, business and world finance.
Lesson 1 – The Credit Crunch Game
In the first lesson, we introduce some of the key terms associated with the financial markets and, through a series of activities, explore their meanings.
Lesson 2 – Thinking Hats
Using the 6 thinking hats method, students evaluate information about the credit crunch and consider the implications for themselves, friends and family.
Lesson 3 – A Local Firm in Trouble
Working in groups, pupils use a case study example to come up with ways to solve the company’s problems.
Lesson 4 – Pressure Groups
This role play activity involves students representing groups protesting about the consequences of cutbacks. They must prepare their arguments for presentation.
Lesson 5 – News Report
Thinking about possible or real consequences of the credit crunch, student gather information in order to prepare a TV, radio or newspaper report or feature.
Lesson 6 – Module Evaluation
In this final module, students have the opportunity to recap on discussion points in this topic, and complete a plenary exercise in the form of a quiz.
