In this section, we have gathered together some additional information that will help you when planning your key stage 3 and 4 work-related learning programme of study.
Work-related Learning Baseline Study
When WRL became a statutory part of the key stage 4 curriculum, it was important that the topic was given a structure. This study collated data on attitudes towards work-related learning as well as the structure and quality if the provision. One of the key findings in this report was that the opportunities and experiences for work-related learning are on the whole governed by the options that a student chooses at the end of year 9.
Howard Davies Review
In 2002, Howard Davies conducted a review of enterprise and the economy in education. In this report, he identified a clear requirement for this type of education and provided recommendations on finding opportunities to include learning in an educational context.
